SMART Digital Accelerator goes to Barcelona!

University of Wales Trinity Saint David and Welsh businesses made a strong showing at the recent IOT Solutions World Congress in Barcelona, thanks in large part to the success of the SMART Digital Accelerator project.

The IOTSWC: navigating the future of digital transformation

TheIOT Solutions World Congressis the premier event for exploring the latest trends in digital transformation and disruptive technologies. It provides a roadmap for industry leaders to exchange ideas, explore the impact of tech on businesses, and tackle opportunities and risks.

Showcasing Wales' innovations

Representatives from the SMART Digital Accelerator project, including Richard Morgan, Lisa Lucas, and Raoul Chappell, and representatives from Welsh manufacturersProbe RTS,Morgan Advanced Materials, andSafran Seats, all of whom have benefited from the project, were in attendance. The delegation was led by Gwion Williams, the Welsh Government's Operations Manager, and Peter Williams, the Technical Relationships Manager.

Their aim was to showcase Wales' innovative industry-changing projects and seek out new relationships and technologies that can provide solutions to challenges both in Wales and globally. The delegation was particularly interested in emerging technologies and knowledge transfer opportunities.

Exploring centres of excellence

The delegation's itinerary included visits to centres of excellence in Additive Manufacturing, 3D Printing, Digital Industry, Robotics, as well as multiple networking opportunities. This provided them with an opportunity to explore the latest advancements in these fields and establish new relationships that will drive innovation and growth.

Building relationships

The UWTSD delegation was able to establish new relationships that will drive innovation and growth, both in Wales and globally, thanks in large part to the success of the SMART Digital Accelerator project. Colleagues from UWTSD’s INSPIRE and Digital Learning departments were also in attendance.

“Attending the IOT Solutions World Congress last week was a truly beneficial experience for both the SMART Digital Accelerator project and UWTSD as a whole. It was an honour to be a part of the delegation showcasing Wales' innovative contributions to digital transformation. The congress provided us with a unique platform to explore the latest advancements in the field and establish new relationships that will drive meaningful growth in our sector. I am already excited about following up on the numerous tech-based organisations and individuals we met with a view to future collaborations, some of them on a global scale.”
