UWTSD invited to Macedonia to share cybersecurity and blockchain expertise

的University of Wales Trinity Saint David’s Associate Professor Dr Carlene Campbell and Research Associate Odayne Haughton presented at the 3rd InternationalConference on Computing, Networking, Telecommunications & Engineering Sciences Applications(CoNTESA) held at the Mother Teresa University in North Macedonia in December and sponsored byIEEE.

的conference was organised by the International Association for Educators and Researchers (IAER) and drew together researchers and developers from academia and industry.

Dr Carlene Campbell was a keynote speaker on day one and delivered a talk called ‘The role of Cybersecurity 2022 and Beyond: Challenges and Uncertainties’ with a focus on Operational Technology Cybersecurity.

Odayne Haughton submitted a paper entitled ‘Evaluating the integration of Blockchain Technologies in Supply Chain Management’ and was invited to present this research at the conference.

Of the 40+ papers submitted to the conference for publication, only 18 were accepted. Of the 18 presenters, Odayne’s paper and presentation were recognised with a ‘Best Paper’ award.

Whilst they were in North Macedonia, they met the former, Deputy Prime Minister and the current Director of the Funding for Innovation and Technology Development of North Macedonia to discuss potential collaborative opportunities for MADE Cymru, the SMART Digital Accelerator project and the Applied Computing Research Innovation Centre (ACRIC) at UWTSD.

Odayne has been part of UWTSD’sMADE Cymruinitiative and has been an active researcher offering advice on blockchain technologies through R&D projects with manufacturers in Wales. In 2022, he was part of the team selected as one of nine participants for the Welsh Government funded research and development scheme entitled ‘Demonstrating the Potential of Blockchain’.

Dr Campbell is one of the expert advisers on theSMART Digital Accelerator project. The Welsh government-funded project consists of a team of industry expert advisers who work with manufacturers in Wales to help them identify the right technology to boost their bottom line. She is also the founder of a new Applied Computing Research Innovation Centre at UWTSD.
