Phil Thomas is the course tutor for the second years and teaches modules across the second and third year modules. He is also involved with our annual ‘Design Week Festival’ and instils quality, skills and creative investigation in all the project briefs. He has developed a selection of collaborative design books with our current students and with our Alumni graduates.

Phil is a Senior Lecturer in Graphic Design. His teaching draws upon seventeen years of commercial design experience, working for a varied, high profile client base including Penguin Books, Ticketmaster, Thomas Telford Ltd., Macmillan Publishing, Nescafé, Renault and The National Youth Music Theatre. He has won a coveted GF Smith Paper – Excellence in Print Award, and continues to work in a freelance capacity.

In parallel with a graphic design career, he has exhibited his paintings in solo and group shows, nationally and internationally.

Phil enjoys drawing upon a lifetime of visual interests and skills, to help students build portfolios that are unique and expressive, whilst still achieving commercial viability.
